On this last official day of summer (which, incidentally is a dreary, rainy day), I am starting to think about my favorite season in Western Massachusetts: AUTUMN!
I love the crisp air, the fall foliage, the harvest fairs, the outdoor decorations and the temperate weather.
As a real estate agent in Western Massachusetts, I love driving to my appointments this time of year. Yesterday I took a drive through Granville, MA to Tolland, MA on my way to a listing appointment and it really got me in the spirit. The apple farms were boasting trees laden with juicy fruit and the trees are just starting to change color. I saw two flocks of wild turkey by the road. I stopped to grab pictures of the second flock and saw turkeys fly for the first time in my life! They are not very graceful, as you might suspect.
If you, like me, are getting excited to spend some time enjoying our lovely foliage, there is a fabulous fall foliage map available for Western Massachusetts and beyond.
This fall foliage map will offer you a calendar of suggested peak conditions, show you where foliage is green, almost peak, peak, past peak and offers some great driving routes through the most popular fall foliage areas in Western Massachusetts.
According to that map, October 17th – 23rd is the best time for leaf peeping.
