Guess how many New Listings in Southwick MA and Westfield MA there are today?

Most days I open up my multiple listing update to see what is new in my main working areas of Westfield, MA and Southwick, MA to find at least a few new homes for sale.

Guess how many I found today?

Well, if you took the few minutes to watch that short video you now know that there were ZERO new listings in Southwick MA and Westfield MA today, August 23, 2018.

In total there were four price changes (reduced), five homes went under agreement, one sale and one home withdrew from the market (foreclosure on auction).

In short, if you are considering selling your home, NOW would be a great time to hit the market because you would have almost no competition. The buyers are out there, but they don’t have enough homes to go around.

Westfield’s Park of Honor – Celebrating Veterans Day and Beyond

Today I toured Westfield’s Park of Honor located on the front lawn of Westfield’s South Middle School.

The Park of Honor is an event hosted by The Kiwanis Club of Westfield in honor of members of the Armed Forces, Veterans, Law Enforcement officers, Fire Fighters and First Responders.

Flags are sponsored by members of the community in honor or memory of someone they choose and those flags (over 150!) and their markers are presented through the month of November as a reminder to all of us the debt of gratitude we have to these fine individuals and organizations.

The funds raised will go towards scholarships for the children and grandchildren of those honored.

Here is a short video tour that I made today at the installation. I hope you will be inspired to go visit or at least drive by this powerful demonstration of appreciation.

Special thanks to Kiwanian Kellie Brown who organized this great event. As a fellow Kiwanian, I was proud to purchase several flags in honor of important people, but the one that meant the most to me was the one I purchased in memory of my dear friend, Michael Andrews. Mike was a Sgt. in the Massachusetts State Police. This lovely person represented everything a good person could want to be. He was kind, generous, brave, loyal, hard working loving and especially a ton of fun! I am so glad that his wife and daughter were able to attend the opening ceremony and see his flag (which happens to be right in the front!). I love you Mike.

I started my real estate career in 1988 and it is not very often that we experience what is going on currently, but I can tell you there is a huge shift happening in Westfield right now.

I’m very happy to report that we’ve survived the most recent 9 year market downturn and right now we’re experiencing a major upturn with excellent sales activity.

 

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING ?
1. At the time of this writing, interest rates are at an all-time record low and this is inspiring people to buy.
2. Home Supply is Low and Buyer Demand is High (There are more Buyers than Sellers).
3. Consumer Confidence is at a 9 year high right now.

 

The above combination of circumstances makes now a great time to sell your home.

2nd Annual Care Packages for the Samaritan Inn Event

On Saturday December 3, 2016 about a dozen adults and children gathered at Park Square Realty to assemble care packages to donate to the homeless at the Samaritan Inn in Westfield, MA.

This is the second year that I have organized this event and it was a great success. I marketed the event for about a month prior and asked for both volunteers and goods to be donated. Many generous people started dropping off supplies during the week of the event and the volunteers all brought items, as well.

The night before, I set up the tables and organize the goods by type. The process during the event was simple: grab a gallon zip lock bag, write if it is for male or female and then walk around the table dropping one of each item into the bag, finish it with a gift tag and it is ready to go!  By the time we finished we had almost 90 care packages completed plus some other large items to donate. care packages for the homeless lesley lambert

Last year we did the event earlier and when we dropped the bags at the shelter, the director asked if she could hang on to them for awhile before handing them out. I wondered why and then she explained that she wanted to place one on each cot on Christmas so that they would have a gift to wake up to.

Keeping that in mind, we moved the event into December and we will deliver them in time for the holiday.

Once again, we all had a great time assembling these bags and I will absolutely by organizing another event for next year.
