A Westfield Family in Need: How can you help?

Help!

A business friend of mine, Thomas Skrodzki’s family home in Westfield caught on fire this weekend and it was a total loss. Thankfully no one was home and no one was injured, but his family has lost all their possessions and are in need of community support.

They are currently looking to find a home to lease for a year. If you know of a home that is available for this family, please let me know.

Please read this list and see if you have any of these items to donate or a gift card that you can offer. You can drop the items to my attention at Park Square Realty: 44 Elm Street, Westfield, MA and I will make sure Tom’s family gets the items.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and help in spreading the word.

Winter Snow Weighs Heavy in Western MA

Icicles in Westfield

I recently wrote a post with some winter home care tips that are often overlooked.

A few days later (and another snow storm) the local media started reporting lots of roof collapses in the area. Malls and schools have been closing as the weight of the snow creates dangerous conditions.

On Sunday my deck collapsed and fell off the condo. I thought with all of these extreme conditions, another reminder might be in order. My last post mentioned shoveling a path on your rear exit, but considering my situation, I would say the entire deck needs to be cleared off before you are in my same boat.

Also, roof shoveling is necessary for many homes at this time. If you have a ranch or other home with minimal pitch to the roof, you may consider having the roof cleared off. There are signs popping up in snow banks all over the place or you can call the contractor I recommend: Brian Williams at 413-364-6876.

Another issue is ice dams. Icicles from the gutters and roof line are pretty, but are also a sign of potential trouble. Ice dams can cause a lot of damage. Here are some tips on how to correct the issue that causes the icicles and ice dams.

Hang in there Western Massachusetts, old man winter won’t stay forever!

More Podcamp Fever: 5 Reasons Why Podcamp Western MA 3 Rocked!

Podcamp Western MA 3One of the first events that inspired me to do more with internet marketing and social media for my real estate business was the first Podcamp Western MA two years ago.

I love the unconference platform and have since attended numerous different camps, but #PCWM remains my favorite for several reasons.

#1- I love meeting other people in my area who share a love of all things internet geeky. I know most of them through Twitter and it is a favorite thing of mine to get to meet them face to face and share our passion.

#2- Western MA is full of some amazing talent. We might seem to be a quiet little backwater to some, but if you scratch the surface you will discover that we are densely populated with some truly brilliant and generous people. I am thrilled to be surrounded by so much enthusiasm and intellect.

#3- We have the MOST fun. From the pre-party (new this year), through the day of camp and the wrap party you will hear laughter, see smiles and hugs and genuine happiness. It is over way too soon every time. There was mention of making PodCamp Western MA a two day event next time and I vote YES!

#4- Ideas. No matter how far I travel into tech savvy-ness, I learn new things and get fresh ideas every time. Last year I learned about QR codes and implemented a very bleeding edge real estate marketing campaign. This year I got some awesome ideas on content sharing and inspiration to delve deeper into my video blogging. It is always a rich environment for new thoughts I can use as a REALTOR in Western MA.

#5- Energy. It is so invigorating to be around this group of people. I get new energy to resume projects and the Podcamp fever extends into my work week giving me joy.

I taught a new (for me) session this year: “How to shoot, edit and upload video in 15 mins with your iPhone”. It was a small niche session filled with interesting people and we decided to use our time to execute a video on the spot. Here it is:

I also did a video with all my other pics and footage from the events:

This event over the course of the last three years has been instrumental in a sea change for me in both my business and personal life. It has enriched and deepened friendships and opened my heart and mind in wonderful ways. Thank you to my wonderful boyfriend, Morriss and our friends Jaclyn and Kelly for organizing yet another fabulous Podcamp! You guys should be very proud of the event and its ripples.
