Tax Day April 15th? Not this year!

April 15th is synonymous with images of long lines at the post office, empty bank accounts (for self employed people especially!) and the general gloom that surrounds “paying the man”.

Well, this year the deadline is pushed back a few days due to federal and state holidays. So, if you haven’t gotten around to filing your taxes, yet, you have a bit of time to get cozy with your w-2’s 1099’s and deduction receipts.

Federal taxes must be filed by Monday, April 18, 2011
Massachusetts state taxes must be filed by Tuesday, April 19, 2011

For more information on filing your taxes in the State of Massachusetts you can visit the government page.

Don’t forget that owning a home or investment property can have a positive impact on your tax status…be sure to consult a tax professional to ensure you get all of your write-offs. Read this article for some starting ideas.

On Juggling and Happy Birthdays

Today was my daughter’s tenth birthday and I found it very poignant to think that I have spent a decade with this amazing girl.

I also needed to send off my video chat to my friend Diane and got to thinking about an adage that I learned years ago about juggling.

I also made a special video for my daughter as a virtual and everlasting birthday greeting.

My job as a REALTOR in Western MA requires a lot of juggling, but it is so gratifying and allows me to be flexible for my children.

Happy Birthday to my sweet ten year old!

National Beer Day! Western MA, How Are You Celebrating?

photo.JPG
I just found out on Twitter that today is National Beer Day!

We can’t let this go uncelebrated now, can we?

Western MA is home to some great micro breweries and close to lots of craft beer hotspots, too. Several restaurants brew and distribute beer, such as Opa Opa, Cambridge House (just below the line in Granby CT) and Northampton Brewery and there are lots of great “watering holes” that specialize in offering great beers on tap like The Dirty Truth.

If you want to join the celebration on Facebook, there is a group you can join.

What is your favorite beer? How will you be celebrating National Beer Day?
