Accessory Dwelling Units regulations for Westfield, MA

You may have heard that Massachusetts approved the ability for homeowners to build accessory dwelling units. That happened in February of 2025 as part of the Affordable Homes Act. Under this ruling, the law stipulates that ADUs under 900 square feet can be built by right in single-family zoning districts. It is, however, up to each city to determine what their specific requirements will be.
